Holograph resuscitate love on new goth wave single  “Angel Dust”

The second single off Holograph's EP, TEETH, is the sound of love being resuscitated and confirms the quintet’s place as purveyors of fantastically listenable goth wave.

Titled “Angel Dust” the song is a poetic look at a secretive, introverted woman who has been hurt one too many times, but who lets her guard down to fall in love once more.

Says the band: “The song tells the story of this woman who sees her beloved as a protector of her and her secrets, keeping her safe. Her wounded heart can finally heal, setting her free.”

“Angel Dust” is one of a set of new songs recorded by the band in Amsterdam, and it follows  “Milk & Lemon” which was released late August. Written by Warren Fisher and Desmond Kannemeyer with lyrics by Ines Soutschka, the single was recorded by Fisher at Ijland Studios and Taxidermy Studios and features Soutschka on vocals, Fisher and Desmond Kannemeyer on guitar and keys, Calvin Siderfin on bass and Lewis Miller Kerins on drums.

Holograph was founded by Fisher, Soutschka and Kannemeyer in Cape Town in the autumn of 2020 during the Covid lockdown when they found themselves housemates. With little to do but make music, Fisher and Kannemayer started writing together, eventually roping Soutschka in to lay down vocals to finish some songs, including "From Within” and “Hollow Mountain” which earned the band attention and acclaim in South Africa.

Over the next few years, this core line-up would be added to by Siderfin, and a number of other players (including Bergen Nielsen, Mitchel Davies and Joao Henriquces), and saw the release of the band’s debut EP The Manor.

After a string of packed out shows in Cape Town, Soutschka and Fisher made the decision to take the band further into the Northern Hemisphere and re-establish itself in Amsterdam to bring Holograph to the European market. Re-linking with previous bassist Siderfin and cherry picking Lewis Miller on drums and Anya Nutt on synths, the band have a new goal in mind - to sit on the throne as the kings and queens of goth wave.
